Reconciling pool payouts: expected vs actually paid

The pool dashboard says one number, your wallet another, and the difference is either math (thresholds, fees, confirmations) or a problem. Reconciliation tells you which — monthly, in writing.

Where numbers legitimately differ

  • Payout threshold — coins sit as pool balance until the minimum (e.g. 100k SOQ on SOQUPOOL); the wallet lags the dashboard by design.
  • Payout fees — some pools charge a fixed or percentage cut per payout event, separate from the hashrate fee.
  • Confirmations — 'paid' on the pool becomes spendable N blocks later (see the confirmations lesson).
  • Luck timing (PPLNS) — expected daily value vs actual blocks found vary week to week; reconcile in month-size windows.
  • Rounding + denomination — pools display in different units than wallets (base units, gMDS-style factors).

The monthly ritual

One row per pool per month: shares/accepted work, dashboard-earned, balance change, paid-out (txids), wallet-received after confirmations. If wallet-received = paid-out within fee+rounding tolerance, close the month. If not: check the txids on the explorer, then the pool's payout log, then open a support ticket WITH your numbers — pools respect operators who arrive with a reconciliation table.
