Soqucoin's meme-coin heritage — from the pump nursery to a post-quantum genesis
SOQ's predecessor pSOQ was launched on pump.fun in December 2025. The meme token was then burned — irreversibly — and a new mineable Layer 1 wrote qualifying burners into its first block. The accurate framing: a meme coin became the distribution vehicle for 57% of the new chain's early float.
The question
Is SOQ a converted meme coin? At origin, yes: SOQ's predecessor pSOQ was launched on pump.fun, and the project's own accounts talked about it in launchpad vocabulary. In its current form, no: pSOQ was destroyed — burned irreversibly, mint authority revoked — and a new mineable Layer 1 wrote qualifying burners into its first block. This piece reconstructs the whole arc from primary sources, then looks at what that heritage did in week one.
The token was born on a launchpad
Four independent confirmations, all from the project itself:
- The mint address is a pump.fun mint. 6NX2MWBuJM2Fn63K4hUgMPivLXHV8pwsU1yTdmjKpump — the pump suffix is pump.fun's launch convention, and the project's own migration spec names this exact mint as the burn target [1].
- The official token account announced it like a launchpad drop. @SoQuBit ("The official wrapped SOQ token ($pSOQ)", joined December 2025) pinned on Dec 19, 2025: "Verify the mint before clicking buy" — 34K views, imposter-token warnings and all [2]. "Clicking buy" is bonding-curve language.
- The team used pump.fun's own vocabulary. @soqucoin, Dec 17, 2025: "It will need to 'graduate' the pump nursery first." And Dec 18: "Jupiter lock is obviously not an option for pump grads" — they were shopping for Streamflow token locks instead [3].
- The transparency page discloses PumpSwap liquidity. The project's operations wallet holds 731.23 LP tokens of the pSOQ/SOL PumpSwap pool — 14.85% of that pool's LP supply, worth 13,793,268 pSOQ + 58.8 SOL at the 2026-09-12 measurement [4]. PumpSwap is pump.fun's graduation AMM; you only have LP there by graduating.
It then traded the way launchpad tokens trade: by January 7, 2026 the project was celebrating that pSOQ was buyable through Coinbase's in-app DEX via Jupiter [5]. The Layer 1 ambition came while the token was already live — the "first L1 quantum-secure PoW blockchain" pitch was posted on Jan 8, 2026 [5]. A meme token's community was being converted into a chain's future distribution.
The plan changed shape under legal review
The July 2026 whitepaper revisions (Rev 3 addendum; Rev 5 §11.3–11.5) described a project-operated bridge between pSOQ and SOQ. The site's own status notes, dated 2026-09-11, strike through that design: "That is no longer the plan… The path from pSOQ to SOQ is in legal review" [6].
What replaced it is the design that eventually ran — and the official account's stated reasoning is worth quoting, because it is correct:
“Bridges are where crypto has lost some of its biggest sums.”

The project burned its own treasury first
Before asking anyone else to burn, on Sep 12, 2026 the project executed, from the Squads 3-of-5 treasury multisig AAgEFLzJxbBq8tS1GFQ4omuhdzrFmxEX2QWemK23t98q [4]:
- a 1,000 pSOQ verification burn at 15:19 UTC, then
- the full remaining 170,000,000 pSOQ at 16:14 UTC,
- with mint authority revoked — "nothing burned can ever be reissued." The burn was livestreamed; the recording is embedded on the transparency page at the 19:50 mark.
Pre-burn supply was 999,961,116 pSOQ; post-burn, 829,960,116. The project's own claim dropped from 17% of supply to a remaining 82,357,793 pSOQ (9.9%) across disclosed non-treasury wallets — including 25,349,571 pSOQ in custody at a regulated US exchange [4].
SOQMIG1: a migration built to be reviewed
The mechanism that replaced the bridge is a burn-with-memo snapshot, specified in a versioned, hash-published document [1]. During a single window — 12:00 UTC Sep 29 to 12:00 UTC Oct 5, 2026 — a holder burns pSOQ with BurnChecked and attaches exactly one memo: SOQMIG1:<sq1 address>. Conversion is integer math: 1 pSOQ base unit = 100 sats — one-for-one, no rate, no fee. Committed outputs are sorted lexicographically, capped at 20,000 allocations (about 880 accounts held pSOQ; the cap never bound), and enforced by consensus: block 1 must carry exactly the committed vector or it is invalid on every node [1].
“An ineligible burn is unrecoverable.”
SOQMIG1 spec v5 [1]
The spec is unusually honest about its sharp edges: dust below 1 pSOQ, failed transactions, malformed memos and OFAC-matched addresses all burn to nothing. The legal screen (OFAC SDN digital-currency identifiers plus published exclusion lists) runs on every qualifying burn, with a single published reason code: withheld [1]. The final commitment was computed twice on independent RPC providers and required byte-identical output [8].
Block 1: what actually landed
- Published final list (Oct 5, 17:12 UTC): 70 addresses, 328,627,412.935409 SOQ, output hash 4db916bf… [8]
- On chain (Oct 13–15 arithmetic): explorer supply 569,227,412.935409 [9] minus block-subsidy issuance (2,440 blocks × 100,000 SOQ = 244,000,000 exactly [10]) leaves 325,227,412.935409 SOQ across 69 outputs. The missing 70th address (3.4M SOQ) was removed as withheld — and the migration page publishes exactly that exception [8].
- A disclosed irregularity: the same page flags that the final set adds one burn made after the last provisional list — "a difference the notice does not provide for" [8]. Small, disclosed, and unaudited by anyone but them.
- A schedule slip: the Sep 22 announcement said block 1 "follows on 8 October" [11]; mainnet block 1 was actually mined Oct 13 at 15:38 UTC [12].
Supply structure, and what week one did with it
Two structural facts follow from the heritage. First, participation was ~39%: the majority of the meme coin never migrated — window missed, dust, or choice — and the unmigrated pSOQ did not die. It still quotes around $0.000404 as "SoQuBit", with an active community running listing-vote campaigns on Moonshot in the days after SOQ's own exchange debut [13]. One origin, two living assets, permanently unconvertible now ("a burn now is not credited" [8]).
Second, the 57% was free-carried. pSOQ changed hands at $0.000404 a week before the window [11]; migrated one-for-one; and SOQ listed on SafeTrade on Oct 14, touching 0.948 USDT before collapsing to 0.00057 within the day — roughly $43.8k of daily volume a day later at 0.00121 [14]. On paper, a 2,300× round trip for window participants who sold the top — and a heavily dilute-able float for anyone who bought it. Miner-side frictions televised the anger: SOQUPOOL's 100k-SOQ payout minimum stranded real balances through the crash, photographed by one miner whose dashboard showed 17.2K SOQ sitting under a red-boxed "Min payout 100,000 SOQ" while the chart died on his other monitor [15].
Assessment
The engineering is more serious than the origin: ML-DSA-44-only signing from height zero, a purpose-built dated genesis with a rehearsed ceremony [16], Halborn 30 of 30 findings remediated pre-mainnet [17], a deterministic migration tool with published hashes on two RPC providers [8], OFAC screening, and a no-bridge custody design. Very few chains with a pump.fun heritage can cite any of that.
But distribution is the meme-coin part, and messaging leans on a technically-true framing: "0 premine, 0 ICO, 0 insider allocation" [18] — true, the treasury burned itself and allocations came from holders' own burns. Yet the launch float's character — 57% of it walking in 1:1 from a bonding-curve cohort, concentrated into 69 addresses, exchange-listed within 24 hours — is exactly what the first-week tape showed. The L1 is real; the float was born in a pump nursery; and both facts will keep mattering as long as the unmigrated half of pSOQ still trades next door.
